Online Donations

Make a Planned Gift
First Lutheran Church works with the ELCA Foundation to help our members and friends make planned gifts through bequests, stocks, IRA rollovers (for people 70 ½ or older), and life insurance plans (people in their 30’s and 40’s often use this option). You can find Iowa’s ELCA Gift Planner on the Foundation website; a visit with an ELCA gift planner is free and confidential. You can also speak with your own financial advisor, especially one of the skilled professionals we have in Decorah.
You can direct planned gifts in a variety of ways.
You can make a planned gift to the First Lutheran Church General Fund to support our current ministries. Gifts to the general fund are used to support our current education, outreach, worship, and service ministries.
You can designate a planned gift to an existing special fund. These include the Building Maintenance Fund, First Lutheran Youth Fund, and the Capital Campaign.
You can make a planned gift to the First Lutheran Church Trust Fund to support youth scholarships, trips, pilot projects, and service and justice ministries. The Trust Fund Board works with financial advisors to invest and manage the principal and disburses the investment income each year. In 2024, the Trust Fund gave over $40,000 of grants to further FLC’s ministry. Learn more on the FLC Trust Fund brochure.
